The Verbier ski season runs from 30th Nov to 26th April in 2020, snow conditions are usually great into late season with plenty of bluebird days. This makes April in Verbier great because there’s snow but also sunshine & the bright green of spring budding in the valleys. Check out Snow Forecast if you’d like to check on the snow record for Verbier in April.
The end of the ski season also brings celebrations and some of the most fun events of the year. The Carlsberg Verbier High Five is one of the biggest events in the annual calendar and for good reason.
Unlike other big snow sports events in Verbier like the WFT Xtreme Verbier Final, members of the public are invited to take part in the race and it makes the whole day extra unpredictable, exciting, and fun.
The race consists of four disciplines
Giant slalom Longer, faster and larger than regular slalom
Flying Kilometer or Mini kl Achieving maximum speed on skis
Ski cross 4 skiers head to head through a 600m course
Waterside The spring skiing spectacle where washing out is an option
Once competitors have completed those, the best of the bunch will compete head to head in the ski cross finals before the winners can be announced.
The day is packed with serious amateurs, pros and everyday skiers all having a great time. Whether you’re taking part or just along as a spectator you’ll be able to brush shoulders with established superstars, up-and-coming youngsters and hundreds of like-minded snow sports enthusiasts. After the events, the action moves to Pub Mont Fort for a party with live music, BBQ and the bright April sunshine. It’s happy hour between 16:00-17:00, what could be better?
You can register for the event on the Verbier High Five home page. At the time of writing, registration wasn’t available yet so keep checking back
